Funeral pre-planning is a step that can help you and your loved ones. It allows friends and family members to understand your final wishes and can also eliminate financial hardships. Working with the compassionate staff at Memorial Services of Iowa (MSI) allows for an easier transition when death does occur.

Pre-planning funeral arrangements is as important as buying insurance and creating a will. In addition, pre-paying allows you to cover these expenses at today’s costs, protecting you and your family from inflation and unexpected expenses. MSI customers can use an existing insurance policy or our exclusive trust, which is one of the oldest and largest funeral trusts in Iowa. Key benefits include:

  • Prepaid arrangements are excluded when determining eligibility for state or federal financial assistance such as Title XIX.

  • MSI's trust is a comprehensive, inflation-proof, and price-guaranteed trust supervised by state regulations and pays for all guaranteed expenses.

  • All deposits are held in a local bank.

  • Interest-free payment options are available.

  • Your pre-funded plan can be transferred if you move.

In addition, MSI accepts transfers from any funeral home.

Once you finalize your last wishes via pre-planning, you will receive a personalized identification card. A single call to our phone number on the card puts our services into action at the time of need. It allows ease and peace to your loved ones. Because your instructions are kept on file along with the vital statistics information required for filing a death certificate, your wishes are carried out and performed as instructed.

MSI offers an irrevocable trust plan to pay for future services at today’s prices and avoid rising costs. In accordance with Iowa law, your pre-planning funds are placed in a trust account and gain interest which remains in the trust and is used to offset future cost increases. These funds are excluded from determinations of state or Federal financial assistance eligibility. The plan is simple and convenient, allowing the funds to be withdrawn to pay for selected services. These funds cannot be accessed until services are needed.
